The Mental Health Association of Morris County, Inc. has a hopeful message to all; that people with mental illness can achieve recovery and lead full and productive lives in their communities. We are dedicated to providing that greater hope and belief in the possibility of recovery through our many programs and services.
Incorporated in 1953, the Mental Health Association of Morris County (MHAMC) is a local chapter of the New Jersey Division of Mental Health America (formerly National Mental Health Association). The roots of the MHA go back to 1909 when Clifford Beers, who was hospitalized for bipolar illness, set out after his recovery to reform the care and treatment of people with mental illnesses. Toward that goal, Mental Health America was formed as the fist consumer advocacy organization. Today, MHA is the only nationwide citizens' organization concerned with all aspects of mental health and mental illness.

Here is how we impact our community:
- Helping people with mental illness to transition out of psychiatric hospitals and into the community.
- Helping people with mental illness transition from homelessness to housing.
- Helping people with mental illness who are caught up in our criminal justice system receive treatment and other services before, during, and after incarceration.
- Increasing wellness in the community through the promotion of self-help services.
- Increasing community education on mental health issues and advocating for improved services, policies and resources that help people with mental illness and their families.
- Assisting the community in mental health responses to community disasters.
